Convention |
|
- The Convention is the Party’s supreme institution.
- The Convention will consist of approximately 1,000 members and will convene six times a year.
- The Convention will include the following members by virtue of their positions: Party’s chairperson, Knesset members, secretary general, all elected representatives in local government, representatives in Histadrut’s Senate and in Na’amat Secretariat, Zionist Executive’s representative, Secretary General of World Union of Meretz, chairperson of Women’s Forum, chairperson of Veterans Forum, chairperson of Gay Forum, chairperson of Young YACHAD, chairperson of Student Forum, chairperson of YACHAD Youth, chairperson of Forum of YACHAD Branches, secretary of Hakibbutz Ha’artzi.
- The other members of the Convention will be elected by the branches and within the framework of a central list designed to both include key party members among the Convention delegates and correct distortions within party groups that won disproportionate or unfair representation. Gender representation will be corrected by means of the central list to ensure representation of up to 50% of the list.
- The Convention’s presidency and chairperson will be elected by the first session of the Convention.
- The Convention will elect the secretary General and two-thirds of the Executive.
- The Convention will have the authority to approve the members of the Review Board, the Court and the Election Committee for the duration of its term.
